1 Corinth 12:28-29 "And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administration varieties of tongues. Are all Apostles? Are all Prophets? Are all Teachers? Are all workers of miracles?"Manifestations and Ministries
The apostle Paul is talking about two different things here in 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 and 28-29. In verse in 7-11 he is talking about the manifestations of the Spirit of God in us. And in verse 28-29 he talks about the different ministries. You see there is a difference between the manifestations of prophecy and being a prophet, likewise there is a difference between the manifestations of miracles in ones life and the ministry of working miracles.
I don’t want us to focus on the manifestations right now but let us take a closer look at the office of performing miracles. Paul said; Are all Workers of miracles? The answer is no, everyone is not a Worker of miracles but that doesn’t mean that there is no workers of miracles. At the same time, all believers can experience miracles but that doesn’t mean that they have the office of working miracles.
Delivered from Church Culture.
To be appointed by the Lord to a ministry of working miracles doesn’t necessary mean that you have or should to stand behind a pulpit.
We have been so dipped in this church culture that we sometimes think that all the ministries are functioning within the church setting. We have been so church and meeting oriented that subconsciously we have had a wrong focus on having "Meetings"
to the point that we bring people to the "Meeting" to meet God.
Instead of bringing Jesus into our working arenas, schools and neighborhoods. Just like Jesus himself preforming miracles in the market places and brought the presence of God to the community.
Change of expectation.
Moving in miracles is not something that we do primarily in a church setting.
The miracle ministry is working more powerfully outside the church setting and especially among sinners.
You see Jesus healed everybody who came to him, he healed out of mercy not because they were righteous.
I want you to know that you can expect God to do miracles through you among the lost. You see He wants to prove his mighty Love by stretching out his hand through you in doing mighty signs and wonders among the lost.
A wrong mind set.
We who have been brought up in the Faith movement have some times thought that people have to get saved first and then get taught about the promises of healings and faith in God before the miracle can manifest.
The ministry of miracles is not bound by where people are in their faith. When this ministry is in function the Holy Spirit imparts the faith of God and imparts the tangible virtue of Christ to the person in need. And this is done out of the mercy of God.
As ambassador of Christ we can not expect that the sick people we meet to have a faith in God. But we can impart by the laying on of hands the very presence and healing virtue of Christ.
Miracles in the Market Place.
Most of the miracles I experience is outside the church setting.
This might shock you, but I have more faith praying for people who don’t know God and expect miracles because I know God’s urgency to prove his love by doing miracles, signs and wonders.
You see, Miracles are signs to the unbelievers of an all knowing and loving God.
Let me tell something that happened to me the other week.
I was minding my own business, buying some groceries at local super market. As I came to the meat section I started to talk with this lady that I didn’t know. And when se heard I had an accent we talked some more and during the conversation I felt an angelic presence around me and the healing anointing started to manifest in my body. As this happened she said that she felt something strange and I explained to her that it was God and that he wanted to heal her. At this point the lord had already showed me that she needed healing. When I asked her she confirmed that she needed healing of a certain sickness and she agreed on praying right there.
And the power of God manifested and she was touched by God right there in the meat section of this store.
Where are the workers of miracles?
I believe that there are many miracle makers out there who haven’t come into the intimate relationship with the Father and reached the point of confidence in who they are and what the can do.
What gives us faith and identity is always founded on what God is speaking to us as individuals. So always stick with what the Father has already spoken to you until he speaks something else.
